The shows are to inspire young adults to find interest in livestock and perhaps become part of the livestock industry when they become adults. Most of the team that judges livestock comes from Universities or Junior colleges. These students reap benefits for their efforts displayed at livestock shows. Most of their college tuitions are paid by the government or other financial institutions.

During judging, the judge team will take many aspects of the animal’s features into consideration. Aside from judging the animal’s structure, bones, muscles, etc, judges must also consider the animal’s angle. By considering the angle the judge can determine the animal’s flexibility and pastern of its joints, hock, shoulder, and knees.

Judging teams in livestock shows often consider frame to consider balance and style. The style and balance makes a difference as it determines fat capacity. Any excessive fat determines the animal’s meat quality and marketing value. The animal with less fat is often considered as the most likely candidate for marketing.

During the shows, cattle are exhibited. Most of the livestock shows represent the western lifestyles.
